Ski all day!

The golden rule for winter sport fans

The advice to follow when we want to ski the whole day

Skiing all day lets you have fun for those waiting for winter season since last year. But also to benefit from very interesting prices on ski passes. If you pay for a day ski pass is more interesting than paying for two half days. And what you will also find less expensive is when you take a ski pass for a week (a ski pass for 6 days). Often, resorts offer half a day or a day package with the whole week as an option.

But to profit from one entire day of skiing you need to have good reflexes!

Necessary equipment

It isn’t sufficient to have your complete ski outfit for you to launch on a long ski day. You also have to have a backpack that’s appropriate for winter sport. That’s to say one that does not hinder your movements, covers your back well and is big enough and practical. Because in your backpack you take things to hydrate (water, small packs of fruit juice, maybe a thermos for a warm drink), and something to have for an eventual hunger or small injury (nothing serious, but it happens that the altitude can make you a bit dizzy). Take some small dry cookies, granola bar of some dry fruits like apricots or almonds, lightweight to carry, they are very energizing. You must take tissues, lip balm, the keys of your accommodation and your mobile phone and if you want to a camera. If you stop to take a lunch break in an altitude restaurant, there is no need to take a picnic with you. In the contrary case, you must think of your lunch.

Some precautions

Before leaving for your location, inquire about the weather for the day and snowfall. The resorts usually have apps or websites that permit you to be informed on weather conditions. If there is nice weather, good. But don’t ever forget that in the mountains the weather can suddenly change. So, even if there is sunshine, take your polar things in your backpack. However, you can imagine picnicking in the appointed points that offer very beautiful views, the sunrays are great. But if the weather is grey from morning on that should not prevent you to go out, we only advice you to opt for an altitude restaurant to warm up a bit.

Know where you’re going skiing

Don’t go on an adventure. Always have the ski map of the resort or ski domain with you. Locate the ski slopes you can take and those you don’t want to take according to your level. Know that green and blue slopes are accessible for everyone (attention if you are a beginner) and that the red and black slopes are for advanced skiers. Make a point on the ski map so you can see where the lifts are that you want to take at the end of your descent. You could plan a route. This is more important if you go skiing on a big domain where there are 2 or 3 ski resorts. It also lets you see where the alpine restaurants are to eat at the end or to have a coffee or hot chocolate break. Additionally, it is very interesting to see which slope you will reach with you ski rental.

Take good care of your body when you ski all day

Cover yourself well

Your ski outfit should consist of a jacket and pants or a jumpsuit, technical underclothes (a t-shirt with long sleeves to conserve body temperature, take away transpiration to avoid humidity and sweat smell). Your undergarments should stay dry, to avoid being cold. This is the first layer. Also warm and comfortable shoes, gloves and a collar to finish your clothing. The helmet covers your head well, it will not necessarily be useful to put a cap, but know that it could slip under the helmet. It is also important to have a second layer when it gets really cold.

Listen to your body

You must think of protecting your skin with sun lotion index 50 and hydrating lotion for your face and lips. If you want to ski all day you must listen to your body and know its signs of fatigue. If you start being cold, if you fall often, if skiing isn’t much fun anymore, these are the times to stop. Skiing is a sport that demands much endurance and physical efforts, it is normal to feel tired at a moment of the day. Your body alerts you and you must listen to avoid falls and serious accidents. Keep in mind that skiing should always be fun and not a constraint or exploit…

Pamper your body

After many intensive moments, the cold and the altitude your body must need some softness. You will probably find at least an indoor heated swimming pool with a spa, hammam, or Jacuzzi in the resort or beauty salons that offer many wellness treatments like different types of massages and care. You can relax and relax your muscles if asked for during the day. Your skin was also hurt by the cold and sun so you can benefit from adapted cares to become comfortable and flexible again. You can count on the team physiotherapists, estheticians or reflexologists to take care of your body.
