What is the Snow Guarantee?

The Snow Guarantee is an insurance that covers you when there isn’t enough snow in a ski resort. The purpose of this guarantee is to financially cover you in case of unfavorable snow fall but also to reassure when you book your stay a long time in advance.

The Snow Guarantee is not the only insurance that exists. You can also insure your ski equipment or yourself in case of an accident. For this, it is wise to check your bank or insurance company.

Snow Guarantee conditions

In order to claim the Snow Guarantee, a number of conditions must be met. These conditions vary depending on the contracts but here are some examples that we find often enough:

– Booked stay between mid-December and mid-April

– Ski resort situated above 1200 m altitude

– Minimum duration of stay (in general 6 days)

– The lack or excess of snow causing the closure of 2/3 of ski slopes or ski lifts for two consecutive days before the five days preceding your departure

The resorts could also take into account their assets and advantages compared to others to offer you exclusive offers. For example, the resorts of the 3 Valleys (the biggest ski domain in the world) offers to reimburse any unused day during the validity of your ski pass if only one European resort offers a larger number of open ski runs.

How to get the Snow Guarantee

The Snow Guarantee is included in the price of your stay and/or ski pass in the majority of the proposed offers by the resorts, booking centers and tour operators. If this is not the case, they generally offer it as an option.

If no exclusion provided for in the contract prevents it, a refund or cancellation including accommodation and/or additional services may take place. It is all the same recommended to study the contract closely to know the scope of the coverage exactly.
